Friday's Game:
Carlos Zambrano struck out 12 in 9 innings and only gave up a solo homer to John Rodriguez in the first. Jeromy Burnitz robbed Albert Pujols of a homer in the sixth, leaping and catching the ball just over the wall. Todd Walker grounded into two inning-ending double plays with the bases loaded.
Sergio Mitre pitched the 11th and gave up a lead-off triple to John Mabry. Hector Luna came in to pinch-run. One out later, David Eckstein laid down a suicide bunt that went twelve feet and Luna scored.
Saturday's Game:
This was a great game. The Cubs jumped out 2-0 on an RBI groundout by Neifi Perez in the second. Michael Barrett then singled in another run. Jeromy Burnitz then homered (17) in the third. The Cards later tied it up in the fourth. Derrek Lee hit a 2 out 2 RBI homer (32) in the fifth. The Cards came back in the fifth to get another run. Aramis Ramirez hit a solo shot (26) in the sixth to make it 6-4. The Cardinals got another run in the eighth to make it 6-5. In the ninth with Ryan Dempster in for the save, after a single, a bunt sacrifice, and a walk, he had runners on first and second with one out and Albert Pujols up. Who else would you want up in that situation if you're the Cardinals. Pujols lined out to Perez at short, who in turn flipped the ball to Todd Walker at second for the game ending double play. WHEW!
